If you're going to tell the story of Anne Frank, then the first thing you have to worry about is finding someone amazing enough to play this amazing person. And I was worried. Not because we don't have the talent in the area, but... what if the right person didn't find this show? I made calls, spread the word, hoped, prayed. And apparently my prayers were answered. Because I don't think more than 3 sentences had come out of Paige Walker's mouth at auditions before I knew I'd found my Anne. She combined white hot passion with an easy, natural delivery. And getting to know her only made her look better and better. Wickedly smart, courageously independent, and I'd swear with every bit as much integrity as the real Anne Frank, Paige became the heart and soul of this production, both onstage and backstage. I've never been more proud of a performer in my life. Both because of what she accomplished, and because she chose to accomplish it on my stage. I've no doubt Paige will continue to accomplish great things in her life.
